Paddling with Family

Most kids loves water. Being on the water, playing with it and swimming in it. To go paddling is an exciting experience - but we know, it can be a lot to handle as a parent. On our Family-tour all equipment is included and you'll get an introduction on how to steer the canoe. We paddle for a while, look at waterlilies, talking a bit about the water spirit Näcken, the beavers and then we'll hit an island. While the guide makes lunch over the fire, the whole family gets a rest, to go swimming, exploring the island, or maybe go fishing?

What's included?

  • Canoe
  • Paddel (we've small paddles for kids as well)
  • life jacket
  • Kneepads
  • water proof case for smartphone
  • Swedish fika
  • lunch
  • introduction to canoeing
  • guided tour with local guide

What do we need to bring?

Clothes according to weather, steady water proof shoes, personal water bottle and some of your kids favorite snacks.

If we want to go fishing?

You need to bring your own fishing-gear and get a fishing-permit - you can get one at Camping Tiveden or iFiske. Usually a fishing-permit for children and youth (until 14) is for free, but they still need to get one and bring it!

How long will we be out?

4,5 hours, we meet up at 10.00 am and we're back by the cars by 2.30 pm.

Where do we launch and how do I get there?

We're paddling on the beautiful lake called Bergvattnet in Tiveden. Launching from the wind-shelter on the western shore. (see the map at the bottom of this page! and coordinates below) Tiveden is located in the middle between Stockholm and Gothenburg. You get there directly by car or by public communication to Laxå, check with your lodging for transfer.

Is this tour beginner friendly?

Yes, it is! No previous experience of canoeing is required for this tour. In order to join us out, you have to wear your life jacket when we're paddling. All personal properties are brought at your own risk. The guide is always with you, helping out answering questions, coaching or if needed - to help you up if you fall in. (Has only happened once since 2017)

Traceless' alcohol- and drug policy

All tours with Traceless in Tiveden are free from alcohol and other drugs. Partly for the physical safety of the group, we're on the water, or in difficult terrain or handling sharp tools and fire. But also in consideration and care for our guests. We want our tours to be safe spaces in nature. Our guide has the right to send away drunk or high guests at any time during the tour. There will be no refunds in these cases.

What if the weather is bad?

We always put the safety of our participants first. We're paddling on a lake where there never are any big waves. If there's thunder or hard wind, we find alternative activities - like hiking in the woods, making a wild campfire or similar. Often the rain pass away pretty fast. If it's raining we'll put up a tarp next to the fire as a cosy shelter. And last but not least - please remember, the Swedish woods are seldom so sparkling and colorful as when touched by summer-rain.
